Our experience: After talking to the staff about the options for the menu of the day, it was explained to us that one of the options was vegetarian, so we went in, with 3 of our party of 4 ordering the vegetarian option for 20 euros each. We ordered a portion of bravas and were somewhat disappointed by the amount of brava considering the price, so already that was not a good start. The starters were okay, but the main shock was that after a lengthy wait of about half an hour, the 3 vegetarian options had chicken in them. We explained to them that there has been a mistake, and they rectified it within minutes, but it seemed like they only removed the meat and recooked the pasta and vegetables. At this point we were too hungry to go anywhere else or even question why there were dried shallots and sweet tamarind sauce in our pasta dish, or why one of the dishes was devoid of sauce. We ate and were pretty sad for the next couple of hours. The kids had free carrot sticks for the hummus however.

15euro menu was good value. Service was friendly just not very efficient. If you’re not in a hurry then it’s recommended. Food was good, kids friendly.

Get out of the touristy old town and enjoy some phenomenal food with the locals. Ask for the specials of the day. The gambas were phenomenal and a simple salad is done well here. Thanks to the bistro for welcoming me to Begur.
